The Frampton Legacy

In 2013, Mr. Frampton became the head band director of Calvin Christian. He graduated from Calvin College and was a student teacher under Mr. Looman. Mr. Frampton has two kids and owns an assortment of farm animals.

Through Mr. Frampton’s tenure as band director, he achieved many things. One of them was helping Calvin recover after the tragic passing of Mr. Looman. I asked Mr. Frampton why he chose to take the job of being a teacher at Calvin, and he said that he felt called by God to work at Calvin at the time Mr. Looman died. In fact, Mr. Frampton was entertaining an offer from another school at this time.

Mr. Frampton’s significant achievement as band director was creating a marching band. Mr. Frampton said that he chose to do marching band because he thought that it would be another outlet and a reason for students to join band. He also thought it was a tremendous success, and he was happy about how the students reacted to having a marching band. I asked Mr. Frampton about his decision to leave Calvin. He said that it was almost a year process on deciding to leave and that it came to a surprise to him but he felt called by God. Mr. Frampton intends to go into some form of worship ministries. Mr. Frampton said that his two favorite things about Calvin are the student and the teachers. My final question to Mr Frampton was “Is the current 9th grade band you favorite?” and he responded with “Yes, ooo symphonic band will see this.”

I asked two students to write a few sentences about why they like Mr Frampton. Anna Bultema, a freshman, said, “Mr. Frampton is a great band teacher. He has taught some of us how to play our instruments since the beginning and helped us learn to love and understand music. Not only does he help us learn, but he also takes interest in our lives with ‘student interviews’ and listening to our weird stories. You can tell that he has a big passion for playing music, especially on his trumpet and keytar. Our band will be sad to lose him, but I am glad that he is following his dreams and wish him the best in his journey.” Luke Austin, a junior said, “What Mr. Frampton was able to do for this school was incredible. He came in, directly out of college, into a school that was depressed with a recent loss. They were big shoes to fill, but he did it with his humor, creativity, and love for music. As sad as it is to see Mr. Frampton leave, I can’t help but be excited to see how God uses his talents.”
