Sure, Christmas might be more widely known as the “most wonderful time of the year,” but autumn will always be the most wonderful time for me. Living in a canopy of trees, I’ve grown up with the brilliance that fall brings. If the sun hits the trees just right, it’s as if the trees themselves are my pallet. It’s easy to love the summer and the snow, but let’s take a second to truly appreciate what fall has to bring.
Flannels: They come in every shade and size. What’s not to love?
Boots: Especially this year, it was essential to have a pair of boots that kept the rain out and the warmth in. Need a suggestion on where to get some? Follow these link:

Leaves: I’ve said how much I love leaves before, but seriously. You can’t get much better than thousands of uniquely colored leaves strewn around your yard. A tip? Don’t blow them all away before you’ve had a chance to really appreciate them. Make some piles, jump around! Gather some favorites and make a thankfulness tree inside! Do a fun photo shoot with your friends and family!
Candles: Some of my absolute favorite smells are sandalwood, lavender, and lemongrass. They don’t cost much and make the whole room seem a little cozier!
Pumpkins: A clear choice for the fall season, but what some don’t realize is how many displays you can choose from. Carve them up, sure, but also stack them, shake up the colors, and paint them with cool designs! Color schemes for pumpkins are way more diverse than you might think.
Books: Not just New York Best sellers. My favorite thing of all time is old children’s books. A great read to start with the family (or just on your own) is Wonder, by R.J. Palacio. Not only was there just a movie made based off of the book, but it’s one of my favorites of all times.
Scarf: To be honest, the scarf fad has come and gone, but I’m still in love with a scarf that goes along with your coat. It’s not just for girls, too! Check a ton of other places. Scarfs are still cool.
Football: Let’s hear it for a definite fall favorite! While I’m not much into sports, a good ol’ football game on TV or a round of catch outside is a great way to experience autumn.
Journal: Something that I’ve found to be really helpful during the days leading up to Thanksgiving is a journal to record all of the things you’re feeling thankful for. It can be simple; it can be extravagant. Not started a journal, like the idea, but think it’s too late? Nonsense! Start any time. Fall isn’t the only time of the year we can reflect on God’s goodness in our lives.
