Born a Crime is a story about Trevor Noah who was born in South Africa during apartheid. Apartheid was a time in South Africa when there was heavy segregation between black people and white people. One law put in place was that it was illegal for black people and white people to have children together; this is how Trevor Noah was born: his dad was white, his mom black, so he was essentially born a crime. In this book, you hear sad yet humorous stories about Trevor Noah’s life during apartheid. Born a Crime was informational and had a thrilling plot. My favorite part of this book was the heroine story of Trevor’s mother who was determined to give her son a decent life despite the harsh rules of apartheid. I would highly recommend this book for anyone that is looking for a funny, heartfelt story.
