“The Book Thief” Review

“The Book Thief” takes place in WWII; it is set in Germany near Munich. The book is narrated by “Death” who tells you about his tireless journey to collect the fallen souls of all of those who died during World War 2. It also tells the story of a girl who has been sent away to live with a new family. Liesel Manager, the girl, arrives at her new home with little hope that she will ever again live a normal life. Later in the story, Liesel and her family are visited by a Jew—a friend of Liesel’s dad—asking to be hidden from the Nazi regime. In this book, you will be able to see the side of a displaced girl who was able to find a new home, experience the life of a Jew on the run, and see the struggle of a family with a difference of opinion from the majority of their nation. I thought that this book was fascinating and would give it a ten out of ten.
